A Brick-Built Icon from 1989, Reimagined

LEGO has officially unveiled a stunning replica of the original Nintendo Game Boy as part of its growing collaboration with Nintendo. This 421-piece, near 1:1 scale model captures every nostalgic detail of the 1989 handheld classic and it’s launching October 1, 2025 at $59.99.

But this isn’t just any brick model. It comes with swappable lenticular display tiles, a subtle Easter egg date (19890421), and printed pieces that replicate the original Game Boy’s interface.

Lenticular Screens Bring the Display to Life

What really sets this LEGO Game Boy apart is the 3-in-1 lenticular display feature, which simulates game animation as you tilt the screen. It includes:

  • The Nintendo boot-up logo
  • Super Mario Land (World 1‑1 scene)
  • Zelda: Link’s Awakening (Link and Marin)

These effects add dynamic charm, giving fans a taste of classic Game Boy magic without needing batteries.

What’s Inside the Box?

  • 421 LEGO pieces
  • 3 lenticular screen tiles
  • Brick-built Game Paks for Super Mario Land and Zelda
  • Display stand for showcasing
  • Full printed detailing—A/B buttons, D-pad, contrast knob, battery hatch
  • Designed for ages 18+ (adults welcome!)

And unlike many LEGO sets, this one doesn’t use stickers—every detail is printed for lasting authenticity.
